Children’s Day observed at London High Commission

Ansar Ahmed Ullah : The Bangladesh High Commission in London has observed the 98th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day with an elaborate programme on 17 March at the High Commission premises.

 

The programme started with Bangladesh’s’ High Commissioner Md Nazmul Quaunine laying wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At a brief discussion meeting chaired by the High Commissioner messages from Bangladesh’s President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Mahmud Ali were read out. Chief guest Sultan Shariff in his address appealed, to all at the gathering, to inspire young people in the ideals of Bangabandhu and to take Bangladesh forward to newer heights.

An essay and art competition titled ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh’ was held for young children. Winners were given certificates. The event came to an end with cake cutting and refreshments being provided to all guests.
