Artistes of cultural organisation Banhishikha entertained the audience presenting songs glorifying language movement at a programme held at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Wednesday.
Around 25 artistes of Banhishikha rendered popular language movement songs and patriotic songs at the programme.
The artistes began the show with a group rendition of the Ekushey song Amar bhaier rakte rangano. Next, they presented songs glorifying language movement like Apomane tumi jwale uthechhile, O Mui Na Balum, Bhulbona sei ekushey February, Banglar Hindu Banglar bauddha, Rukhe Darao and others.
The artistes also presented popular patriotic songs like Dhanadhanye pushpabhora, Teerhara ei dheu-er sagor, Aj joto juddhabaj dei hana and others.
In solo performances, Urmi Halder presented patriotic song O amar Bangla ma tor, Asif Iqbal Sourav rendered language movement song Rashtrobhasha andolon korilire Bangalee and Amitesh Das presented a patriotic song Mago dhanya holo.
Singer Abida Rahman Setu, who directed the programme, ended the show with a patriotic song Sona jhora sei diner.
The programme also featured a discussion. Eminent artiste Syed Hasan Imam and Banhishikha president Golam Kuddus spoke at the event.
