Dhaka-based Subachan Natya Sangsad and Jessore-based Bibartan are participating at the 8th Theatre Olympics in Indian capital New Delhi.
Subachan Natya Sangsad will stage its acclaimed production Mohajaner Nao today at Kamini auditorium of National School of Drama while Bibartan will stage Maatbring tomorrow at the same venue.
Mohajaner Nao, written by Shakoor Majid and directed by Sudip Chakroborthy, is based on biographical sketch of the legendary baul Shah Abdul Karim.
Bibratan’s Maatbring, written and directed respectively by Sadhana Ahmed and AKM Yusuf Hassan, revolves around struggles of Garo community set against the backdrop of urbanisation and deforestation.
Theatre Olympics, one of the largest theatre events in India, is organised by National School of Drama in which troupes from different countries participate.
Fifty troupes from different part of India and other countries like Bangladesh, Greece, America, Italy, Poland and Lithuania are participating at the 8th edition of the festival that began on February 17.
The festival will end on March 1.
