Current President Abdul Hamid, who is also the ruling Awami League nominated candidate for upcoming presidential polls, is going to be 23rd President without any contest as no other candidates have submitted nomination paper this year.
Assistant Election official of the presidential polls, Khandakar Mizanur Rahman, told that no one except Abdul Hamid submitted nomination paper to the EC till 4:00pm Monday (Feb 5). The submission time is up and the nomination papers will be selected on February 7.
If Hamid’s nomination gets accepted, he will be elected president uncontested, he added.
Earlier on Monday noon, a team led by Al general secretary Obaidul Quader submitted the nomination for presidential candidate to CEC KM Nurul Huda.
