Senior DB officer among 3 shot by gunmen in Dhaka

Three people including a Senior Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Detective Branch (DB) of police suffered gunshots fired by unidentified terrorists in a drive at Jurain area of Dhaka.

The three wounded are—Rahul Patwary, 35, senior DB AC of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Mridul alias Billal, 22, a detective source, and Selim, 30, a pedestrian.

Shyampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Abdur Razzaq told that they suffered bullet wounds as terrorists opened fire towards them, while conducting a drive at a place behind Shyampur-Jurain Fire Service Office, at around 09:00pm Saturday (August 12).

Of the three, two were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment whereas Selim, the pedestrian, was taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital.

Selim received gunshot to his back.

Afterwards, he was taken to DMCH at around 10:30pm.

However, the OC claimed that wasn’t aware about the drive.
