The 76th death anniversary of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore was observed on Sunday through several programmes.
Different organisations observed the day with programmes while various television channels aired many productions based on Rabindranath Tagore’s works.
A tribute ceremony featuring a special lecture programme and a cultural event was held in the Bangla Academy’s Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium.
Besides, Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy organised a discussion and musical programme titled ‘Rabindranath and Bangabandhu’ in the auditorium of National Music and Dance Centre marking the death of Tagore.
Channel I aired a set of programmes throughout the day which began with a special morning show titled ‘Nana Range Rabindranather Mala Gathbo’ featuring songs, poems, recitation and discussion at 7:30am.
‘Tumi Robe Nirobe’, directed by Mahbuba Islam Sumi, based on a story of Rabindranath Tagore was aired at 2:40pm while Rabindra Sangeet singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya rendered songs at a programme, ‘Robir Chhaya’ from 7:50pm.
