The monsoon season comes after a long period of summer the people of the country celebrate the season by organising special programmes featuring dance, poems and songs. Cultural organisation Satyen Sen Shilpygoshthi celebrated the monsoon season by organising a programme at the Bakultala of Dhaka University on Friday.
Artistes of different cultural organisations entertained the audience by presenting dance and songs glorifying the monsoon season on the occasion. The programme commenced with noted singer Bijan Chandra Mistry presenting raga Badriya. Artistes of Banhishika in chorus presented the popular Nazrul song Megher o Durmo Ghano Baaje, which was penned by national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam glorifying the monsoon season. Artistes of Satyen Sen Shilpygoshthi sang the Tagore song Esho Shyamolo Sundaro at the event.
Artistes of Samoswar and Panchabhaswar in chorus sang Esho Nipo Boney and Rim Jhim Rim Jhim Ghano Deya Boroshe at the programme. The event also included solo presentations. Singer Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury sang Tagore song Abar Esechhe Asar at the programme. Many folk bards have penned songs glorifying the monsoon season.
Singer Abu Bakar Siddique presented a folk song Ashar Maishya, which celebrates the monsoon season, to the delight of the audience at the event. Artistes presented colourful dance recitals syncronised with songs glorifying the rainy season at the programme.
Dancers of Nrityasram performed a dance recital syncronised with the song Mon Mor Megher o Songi, while artistes of Spandan presented a dance recital syncronised with the song Mor Bhabonare Ki Haway at the event.
