MC College students asked to vacate dormitories

The authorities of MC College in Sylhet have asked the students to vacate their dormitories by 6:00pm on Thursday.

The decision came following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling Awami League.

The supporters of Titu-Dimon and Hossain-Delwar groups had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the college.

As a sequel, both groups attacked each other at the college hostel. A scuffle took place among them on Thursday morning near the campus.

During the clash, they also vandalised the windowpanes and doors of eight to 10 rooms of the hostel.

Akter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shah Paran police station, said additional police were deployed on the campus to avert any untoward situation.

The clash later led the authorities to vacate the dormitories of the college.
