Case filed against Imran Sarker in Sunamganj

Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker and 60 others have been sued in Sunamganj for making derogatory comments against the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League.

Nur Muhammad Swajan, a leader of the Sunamganj unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the case on Sunday with the district judicial magistrate court in the afternoon, the court sources said.

The plaintiff alleged that a group of some 60 people, including Imran H Sarker and Sanatan Ullas, chanted derogatory and objectionable slogans, namely—‘Shame shame Hasina, we are dying due to shame’ [‘Chhi Chhi Hasina, Lajjay Bachina’], ‘Bangladesh did not lost, Sheikh Hasina you lose’ [‘Bangladesh Hareni, Hasina Hereche’], ‘Liberation war was not lost, Sheikh Hasina has been lost.’

They chanted the slogans in a procession set out from the National Museum and ended at the TSC Crossing of Dhaka University on May 28, the plaintiff complained.

When contacted, Swajan’s lawyer Abul Azad Ruman confirmed New Age of lodging the case by the BCL leader and said the court took the allegation in cognizance.

‘The judicial magistrate Mohammad Shahidul Amin also ordered the sadar police officer-in-charge to submit a report within June 27 after an investigation into the allegations,’ Ruman said.
