School boy dead in clash centering on bullfight in Habiganj, 30 injured

A school boy, named Sujat Miah (15), has died in a clash between two groups following conflict centering on bullfight at Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj. At least 30 people from both groups have been injured in this clash.

The incident took place at 10.30 am on Wednesday at Bibiana Bazar of Amrakhair village in West Boro Vakoir union under Nabiganj upazila.

3 men involved with the incident, including the main accused Abdul Khaleque and his son, have been arrested by police. Injured people are taking medical treatment in Nabiganj Hospital and at the nearest clinics.

Villagers informed that the conflict began in the afternoon on Tuesday between the followers of Abdul Khaleque and M. Azharul Islam from the same village centering on bullfight. The bloody clash between two groups took place yesterday at 10.30 am. Class 8 student Sujat, the cousin brother of Azharul Islam, died on the spot after being attacked brutally by the opposition group.

Acting Officer-in-Charge of Nabiganj Police station S M Ataur Rahman said, ‘We have instantly arrested 3 men right after being informed about the clash and sent the rescued dead body to Hobiganj morgue.’

Ofor Miah, father of late Sujat Miah, has filed a murder case being plaintiff at Nabiganj police station.

Habiganj North Circle ASP A S M Shamsur Rahman has visited the spot. Extra police force has already been deployed there.
