People seek emancipation in hushed whispers : Khosru

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said on Monday that the people of the country are hushed and whispering they want emancipation.
“I’ve been in Sylhet for four days now. I met not only party people, but also talked to common folk. I’ve read the language of their eyes. They’ve told me in hushed whispers: ‘We want emancipation’,” said the BNP leader.
Khosru was speaking at a conference of Sylhet district party activists held at a community centre in Sylhet.
The BNP leader called upon party workers to remain vigilant about the next general elections.
“The general elections are approaching. This illegal government is hatching a conspiracy to keep the people away from the elections to regain power.”
Khosru underscored the need for merit-based politics.
“You will have to take the words of democracy, of the country, and of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to the doorsteps of the people through social media and even by leaflets, if necessary,” said the BNP leader.
Demanding to know the whereabouts of BNP’s missing leader M Ilias Ali, Chhatra Dal leaders Iftekhar Ahmad Dinar, Zunayed Ahmad, and Ilias Ali’s chauffeur, Ansar Ali, he alleged the government wants to cling to power sowing fear among the people by means of killing and abduction.
“But Khaleda Zia’s government will give a befitting reply to all injustices, including killing and abduction, once it comes to power with the people’s verdict,” he said.
