IU teacher sacked over sexual charges

The Islamic University (IU) authorities have temporarily suspended Finance and Banking Department’s assistant professor Asaduzzaman over sexual charges.

The decision was taken in an urgent meeting at the university conference room on Saturday afternoon.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of IU Prof. Dr. Harun Or-Rashid Askary confirmed the news.

He said Asaduzzaman was temporarily suspended after a female student of the department brought sexual harassment allegations against him.

The suspension will remain active until the interrogation into the matter ends, he added.

Meanwhile, the university authorities already formed a nine-member probe body to investigate into the allegations. The committee is asked to submit report within 15 days.
