The former students of Al Emdad High School and College of Chandarpur of Budhbari Union Bazar of Golapganj organised a re-union and meeting on 8 February in Amara Centre in East London. The re-union was held by Al Emdad High School and College trust UK which aims to raise the standard of its education and help the poor students of the area. A vivid cultural programme took place after the meeting. The former students also published a magazine named Alor Taranga.
The meeting was presided over by Convenor of the organisation Mostofa Miah and conducted by Member Secretary poet and writer A K M Abdullah. Hundreds of former students, trustees and guests took part in the meeting.
Maolana Rafiq Uddin recited from the Quran in the beginning. MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, Rushanara Ali was present as chief guest of in the meeting who later unveiled the cover of the magazine with other guests.
Guest who addressed the audience included former Speaker of Tower Hamlet Council Cllr Rajib Ahmed, Community leader Fajlul Haque Fajlu, Nurul Islam, Mujibur Rahman, freedom-fighter Aman Uddin, Mokhlu Miah, Anwar Hossain, Sipoth Ali Ahad, Faruque Miah, Afsor Hossain, Abdul Qayum Hannan, Rafique Uddin Master, former Mayor Daras Ullah, former Councillor Akikur Rahman, Jillur Rahman, former Councillor Mamunur Rashid, Abdul Hai, Shamsul Islam Selim, Rafique Uddin Helal, Koyes Ahmed Ruhel, Foyjul Ahmod Selim, Mohi Uddin Foyez, Sufi Sohel, Abdul Rahman Nizam, Kutub Uddin, Kola Miah and others.
