Curry Palace holds post Award Winning Celebration Dinner

Award winning Bangladeshi restaurant Curry Palace has organised their post-celebration dinner at Curry Palace in Cottenham on Monday. Curry lovers across the Cambridgeshire attended this celebration dinner. On 2nd of November Curry Palace Owner Kosru Miah received the Best Caterers of the Year Award in East Anglia region by Bangladesh Caterers Association BCA. BCA is an umbrella organisation of approximately 12,000 British-Bangladeshi restaurants across the UK. It was established in 1960 to represent the Catering Industry run by the British Bangladeshis. At present, the industry employs more than 90,000 people, with estimated yearly tax revenue of £5.2 billion. BCA Introduced BCA Awards to recognize their member who has given excellent service to the curry industry. For last 9 years BCA Awards has become Curry Oscar of Restaurant Industry.


Curry Palace is in the village of Cottenham, which is 7/8 miles away from Cambridge City. BCA award spotlighted the owner of Curry Palace, Mr. Kosru Miah. Curry Palace is one the best among the top ten restaurants in the UK. The award-giving ceremony was hosted by BBC Masterchef Presenter Greg Wallis at the Grosvenor House. That prestigious night concluded 1200 guests of VIP’s, dozens of MP’s, Lords, Baroness and celebrities. Labour leader Ed. Miliband enlightened the evening as the chief guest.


Kosru Miah, Owner of Curry Palace says, customer’s recommendation and satisfaction helped him to achieve the BCA Award. So this celebration party is a gratitude to them.





On Monday 10th, at the post-celebration dinner, Mr. John Cousins, a regular customer, who has a long relationship with the restaurant says, “I have been coming here since 14 years when restaurant was established.  Mr. Cousins, who is familiar with most of the curry restaurants in the area, is a big curry lover. Curry Palace is the best restaurant of the region because of the hospitality, innovation and professionalism of its staffs. The speciality of Curry Palace is, it prepares dish according to individual choice of the customer, even if it is not in the menu, says Mr. Cousins.


The similar opinion is expressed by another long-standing customer, Ms. Debbie Prince. Ms. Prince says that she has been coming at Curry Palace since its opening. She comes here once or twice a week and usually celebrates birthdays and other events here because the staffs are very accommodating and hospitable. ‘Even in rush hours, the people at the restaurant would go out of their way to cater to the special needs of regular customers’, Ms. Prince says. She says that the place is crazy at weekends, with people buzzing in at all hours. She also tells that she knew people come to this place from a distance to get a taste of the warm atmosphere and the amazing food. Ms. Prince’s favourite item is ‘Tawa Balti’ and her friend; Ms. Paula Meyes’ favourite food is Chicken ‘Tikka Bhuna’ with extra coriander. According to both of the friends, Curry Palace is the best curry place around.


Mr. Miah, who is extremely happy to get the award, says, his business has seen steady ever since its establishment 14 years ago. He mentions that there were approximately 35 to 40 curry houses in the vicinity which included Cambridge city but people travel across the country and come at Cottenham to have curry at Curry Palace. Mr Miah been involved in the hospitality industry last 23 years, before coming to curry industry he used to work as a garage mechanic. Mr. Miah came to the UK as a child with his family from Bangladesh.
