Meridian College opens its new site in East London

The College of IT & Ecommerce (CITEC) and Meridian Business School (MBS) has opened their new site at 56-60 Nelson Street/15 Philpot Street London E1.  The Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets

 Lutfur Rahman officially inaugurated the centre, on 7 November 2014.  The new centre aims to provide educational opportunities to the local community in Tower Hamlets.   The inauguration was conducted by the Director of the college Suresh B Kundo.  Academic Advisor Jeffery Clarke gave the welcoming speech and introduced the principal activates of the college.

Meridian College offered two scholarships to Mayor of Tower Hamlets and three scholarships to Bengali media, of them, one will go to Bangla TV, one to Chanel S and one to Bangla Mirror.  Bangla Mirror Editor Mohammed Abdul Karim  received the scholarship on behalf of Bangla Mirror, Chief Reporter of Channel S Jubaer Rahman received the scholarship on behalf of Channel S and Chief Reporter of Bangla TV Ibrahim Khalil received on behalf of Bangla TV.

Cllr Golam Rabbani, Community Affairs of Canary Wharf Group Zakir Khan and British Bangladeshi Who’s Who editor Barrister Shahadat Karim were present at the event.

In a press release, the College mentioned that both colleges are offering practical, work-relevant courses to young people and adults to provide them with qualifications that are attractive to local employers and employable skills that help to develop genuine career opportunities.

The college also mentioned that as responsible education providers the College of IT & Ecommerce and Meridian Business School are committed to helping the community of which we are a part and we are happy to announce the creation of five scholarships to help pay for tuition fees as a reward for Academic Excellence demonstrated by local applicants who are eligible for the awards.  The Scholarships have been created in honour of the Mayor of Tower Hamlets, and also recognise the creative input of the Bangla Mirror Group, Channel S Global Limited and ATN Bangla UK (Digital and Media Scholarships) and the practical help received from the local business leaders and employers (Enterprise Scholarship).

All of us at the College of IT & Ecommerce and Meridian Business School are excited about the prospect of starting our journey to provide educational opportunities to both funded and self funded students in Tower Hamlets and we are also looking forward to working closely with local businesses and employers to help satisfy their training needs through apprenticeships, which will provide work based training to local people.
